The Lair Of The Circe Reply

My findings about the island of Ponza, is that it is the "lost" island of Aeaea of the Sorceress Circe, who turned Odysseus men into pigs in The Oddessey by Homer. Odysseus lived here with Circe for over a year.

On the west side of Ponza between Capo Bianco and Chaia Di Luna Beach or Spiaggia is the cave of the Circe. This is her lair. It is called Grotte Della Maga Circe.

On the eastern side of the island there is the promontory called Il Belvedere. At water level on the south side is the Grotto Della Ulisse O del Sangue. According to local legend, this is where Odysseus landed and made sacrifice.

So, it seems that Ponza is the lost island of Aeaea.

Circe and Calypso had Aeaea as their Surnames.

Calypso lived on Ogygia which is Gozo near Malta.

Check out map number 2.
