Ponza In The Movies! Reply

At least two famous movies were made on Ponza! One was Federico Fellini's "Satyricon" (1969) and the other is the recent film "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou".

I have just seen both of these movies on DVD and are available for free at the NY Public Library.

The Life Aquatic had a few scenes of Bill Murray with the Ponza harbor behind him in the background.

Fellini's Satyricon shot a few scenes at Chaia Di Luna beach.

Satyricon put my parents to sleep.

Hi!
I just wanted to add that Africa Sotto i Mari, with Sofia Loren was also filmed in Ponza. I know, because my mother, Rita Mazzella Conte played her double in the movie. I also own the VHS tape. I believe it was made in l952 and since Sofia Loren did not know how to swim, they asked my mother to play her double during the swimming and diving scenes. The movie was not good, but it was nice to see. P.S. I love all the info on Ponza. I was there last year after a 16 year absence and loved it.
